Goodbye to Summer!
Work: 35%
Sleep: 30%
Family Time: 7%
Friends: 7%
Hiking/Camping: 5%
Random: 5% (Losing keys, driving, filling up with gas)
Karate: 4.5%
Eating: 4%
Grooming: 4%
Running: 2.5%
OK, Im not entirely sure why it is that I did that pointless exercise in ridiculousness, but alas. There is my best guess as to what I did this summer. Some things are missing (such as eating, fighting with Dalhousie, resisting temptations, and time spent in anticipation of receiving laptops) but its a pretty rough guess.
How about everyone else? What did you do this summer?

Bryna = Hilarious!
original joke:
where do cousins come from? ant holes (aunt!)
HILARIOUS Addition:
where do donkeys come from?
Ok, so the other one isnt so much a joke, but I still think its so funny. Part of my job is to take invoices for services that other companies provide for us. So, turns out that we hired another company to suck the gravel out of a couple of manholes. So, I have to summarize their services and enter it into the computer. So, I entered it as "manhole service" and furthermore I entered it as "sucked manholes clean of gravel!"
Now, upon reading this again, I think that perhaps my sense of humor has been perversed by hanging out with many boys who enjoy crossing the line and gay comments. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Anyways I can't wait to hear what my boss says, or if he even notices my hilarity when he is checking over my work later today.
Tell me what you think! Do you think I have a chance in the world comedy circuit?

General Update!
Do I write about the excellent and informative 'Young Lions Camp' (karate camp) that I just returned from? Or perhaps I should shout to the world what an excellent Canada day weekend I had. Maybe I should mention to my loyal readers about my job 'motion (I'm not sure I could call it a promotion as my job now is many more hours and lots more stress...). Or perhaps and more likely, I could give a bit of an update about Halifax.
Megan, Grace, Emma and I (Grace and Emma, I do not yet know) have rented the upstairs of a house a bit of a walk from downtown Halifax and Dalhousie. I am told it is a good location, and close to many pubs and coffee shops (all that a University student really needs!). So, recently Megan received an email from our Landlord requesting that we all send predated, signed and made out cheques for care-free money making on his end. We already paid for the first months rent a couple of months ago, hence the part in the middle about his appreciation. He recently sent this email to us as follows;
"That is fine to each send me cheques. I would appreciate if you all sent them right away so I can give them to my bookeeper for set up.
I would appreciate that favour.
I do record in detail but this time I cannot find the record of the total amount you paid for the first months rent. I appreciate that it was not the full amount. I would appreciate if you would please advise me by email right away as to the total amount you did pay me and you can please send me a cheque for the difference when you send in your other cheques.
Emma, maybe you recall the total amount you gave me as well and could advise. I look forward to receiving your cheques in the amount of $1740/4 = $435.00 plus your damage deposits of half a months rent divided by 4 which equals $217.50 each. Those cheques have to be dated September first. I look forward to hearing from you about the amount owing on the first months rent and receiving the post dated cheques. John"
If anyone can understand what he is talking about, I will definetely hold you in high regard and make you one of those little paper hats with foam cut-outs of cows and cats that I will steal in a daring escapade from my 6 year old sibling.
I shall update soon, and send pictures from my most recent adventurs. Keep in touch!
PS- Yah for Schuyler becoming an Uncle!

My trip!
Well, I arrived in Amsterdam on June 11th, and my travels have been great so far - although they have only just begun.
Amsterdam was great- the whole weed being legal is pretty nuts....going into a `coffee shop´ and asking for the 'menu.'
After we were there for a couple of days we left the Netherlands and now are in Hamburg. It is so wonderful here. The house we are staying at is a bit out of town and its so green and great. We are staying here for another week, and then next weekend we are going to Berlin and on Monday we are travelling on to Prague. We are going to spend a bit of time there and around there and then on arund July 15 we are meeting Phil's parents in the south of France. We have rented a house on the Beach!! We are there for 3 weeks and then off to China!! I know I am not prepared mentally for China- I can feel it but I know it wil be amazingly fun.
Oh, wait a tick. I must have went into a daydream of enormous proportions, thats Katie Z who is flying around the world with her German boyfriend, not me. Sometimes I get so confused.
Here is my update. X Men III is in the theatre here. I might go see it this weekend.

Misc. Summer Stuff
I am house sitting a big house with a huge screen tv and two cats, so I am pretty much happy all the time. No one disrupts me while I am sitting on the couch reading for a couple of hours, and no one bothers me when I am laying in the sunbeam after work. I can wake up at 5:30a.m and listen to music loudly and not worry about waking anyone and I can have hot showers and not worry about the next person in line. Its pretty much the life.
I kind of miss the boys though, I didnt realize how attached I had grown to them. Im also missing Jarvis and the copious amounts of games and wine that were often consumed in his presence.
I think the thing that I am most excited for this summer is all of the hiking that we have been planning. Cole, Blake and whoever else we can drum up are going to go on a day long hike in to a lake up in the mountains of Tumbler Ridge. We were talking about spending a night and the next day up there and then maybe hiking out on the third day. Im really excited, but I think before we can do that, we are going to need to really work up to it. So, out come the backpacks and jugs of water as 'resistence' training.
Anyways, I just thought I should update and send a little shout out from lil' old DC!
I'm pretty sure that the few people who read this are split half and half between the North (here) and the South (PG and Van), so it makes it hard to know what to write about.

Breaking!!
Generally, in ones Kyokushin Karate journey, the karate-ka breaks boards every time a rank changes. However, for this particular student I haven't had to break since I went for my blue belt (2 rank changes, and 3 years ago). So, I had breaking all built up in my mind and was freaking out about the day when I finally would have to break. And, when one starts to get higher belts, the breaking obviously becomes more complex and more boards are introduced. For example, for my blue belt breaking I broke a board with a hammer-fist, but for my green-belt grading I would have had to break 2 boards with a straight middle-level punch, and two with a forward-kick with the ball of your foot. And finally, I get freaked out when I am evaluated in front of other people that I care about. So, between kids classes last night, Jarvis, Sempai set up a board on another board, and told me to break it. So, I didnt have any time to freak out about it, and I just -- did it! There was no build up or anything! Anyways, so we got to do some more breaking later on in the adult class, and I did a couple of more breaks, one with the bone on your wrist at the bottom of your hand, and a couple with my heel! I was pretty excited in all, and I even have a bruise on the side of my hand for my effort. It's pretty beautiful, and it constricts my motion a little bit.
After this adventure, I took Blake to the hospital because he had re-hurt his hand, so I got to sit in the hospital and read! I dont mind hospital visits so much!

Multiple Choice Questions

Well, I have finished my first exam. For the first time in my life, I studied exactly the right thing. Becks and I spent a couple of hours yesterday going over the notes that we had taken from the last part of this term, and the stuff that we really discussed in detail, was on the test. The multiple choice questions were pretty hard though. Lots of them were in this format, which are the worse:
Which one of these were not part of the movement towards the furthering of human right movement in the 1940's?
a. The French Declaration of the Rights of Man
b. The United Nations Human Rights Declaration
c. The International Covenent on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights
d. The International Covenent on Civil and Political Rights
e. The Declaration of Independence
f. The Magna Carta
g. b, c, d, and g
h. b c, d
i. Not the Declaration of Independence
f. none of the above except for a, e, f, g, h, j
Immediately, you think that you can take off a, e and f, but then youre not sure which answer says that. So, you're stuck and end up just guessing. It is ridicolous how much he tries to mix you up. He's always putting negatives in the questions, and negatives in the answer, and in the end the answer that you thought you knew, you are guessing about again.
Well, regardless, I am glad that is all done. I am going to go sit outside and read some textbook before I go for a tasty bbq this evening with Jarvis, Natalie and Blake.

It's Schuyler's Brithday!!
Schuyler turned 22 today. And I, instead of having a bunch of naked drunk girls dressed up like Princess Leia to distract him after he got home from an exhausting day of work missed my cue. He went for dinner with his sister instead. My bad.
Every Nerd's Dream (or so I'm told)

And then instead of him coming home from that and me having ordered him a pair of strippers that were intersted in fulfilling his fantasies, I made him play the game of Life with me... And I didn't even entertain him by making myself a lesbian (in the game). All in all, I hope that he had a great 22nd birthday, no thanks to me.
The Hooker's I should have Gotten

Actually, since they would have been Prince George hookers, they would have looked more like this...

This is my present to you Schuyler by the way! You can check out that picture of Princess Leia after I go to bed!
PS- Schuyler isn't at all the prostitute getting sort of guy. Just letting you know. But he is a bachelor, and enjoys mountain biking, spending time at the lake with friends, waltzing, and Family Guy. He's got a great sense of humor with strong educated views on pertinent issues of today. He also likes Starwars and WOW. A suitable girl needs to have knowledge of these things. And on top of it all, he's cute!

Go Team Tanshin!
Shawn, Eileen, Tyler and Cole are going to check out the competition and enter in their first tournament.

I think that this is the website! http://www.ackk.ca/EngMain.html
Anyways, this tournament is broken up into weight divisions, and colored and black belts, which is not so in the World Tournament in April 2006. So, it's a bit of a change from the other tournaments, but it's awesome that they are getting out there and finding out what it is all about.
I'm so excited for them, and hope that they come back home unbroken and with excellent stories!

Randomness
We went out last night for Schuyler's birthday! It was pretty fun, we went to the Publik (I swear its communist) where we started off with drinks. Nothing so exciting happened, so then we came home and had some star wars cake!! Its pretty awesome, its got Darth and Yoda on it, so it was fitting for his birthday. Then we went to the bowling alley, where we had interesting names like "Greg's Woman (Kristina), "Commander Coolhat (Blake)," Sex Kitten (Katie)," "Kitten Pleaser (Ian)," "Schooler (Schuyler)," and "Heroin Handles, (Me!)" So, needless to say it was a little bit riske whenever one of us got a strike or a spare because then our names would flash. Anyways, it was pretty good times, but we decided not to go out to the bar, and instead came home and watched the advertisement for the Magic Bullet. Well, I watched it and the boys complained about it.

The Magic Bullet, the focus of my dreams.
The Magic Bullet is amazing. I so badly want one. I just think that it would be awesome to make meals for one person. Its so small and looks so easy, and tasty!! And, I have to admit I really like the info-mercial.
Then today, I woke up and felt so sick all day. Then I proceeded to become ill, and now I am swearing off all food, and am pretty sure that I wont be able to drink mochas for quite some time.
Anyways, I should get back to writing the stupid annotated bibliography.
Hope everyone else is feelin' fine!

Death star!!
On that new CD that I bought yesterday (see below), there is a song by the Presidents called "Deathstar," and since so many of my friends are total geeks and Star Wars nerds, I shall share with everyone the lyrics.

Lando: "That blast came from the Death Star! That thing's operational!" or if you prefer...
The Emperor: "Now witness the firepower of this fully ARMED and OPERATIONAL battle station!"
"Death Star"
Good evening, ...., it's for you
Hanging in the stars, suspended from the dark
Life is long and heavy like a shadow on a spark and it will blow
Massive killer orb hovering around
Looking for a spot to blast the good guys on the ground before they know
What hit them from above
It's the death star, something so incredible
Death star, something indestructible
Death star, massive and maniacal
Death star, teeny weeny vulnerable hole
Somewhere deep inside shifty to the core
The tank is full and fuelled
By the dark side of the force that makes it go to and fro
KillingBlack hearted ball roll the devils dice
Destroy it one more time cause it's so good they built it twice
But now no more
No more, no more
It's the death star, something so incredible
Death star, something indestructible
Death star, massive and maniacal
Death star, teeny weeny vulnerable
Death star, something so incredible
Death star, something indestructible
Death star, massive and maniacal
Death star, teeny weeny vulnerable hole
Goodbye, death star
You were the largest weapon, ever manufactured.
My Obsession turned Collection. Pt. 1
It all started back in the day, a long time ago in a galaxy not so far away. We were dressed in flannel, sitting on couches with nails sticking out of them in the back of Greg's 'yoda. There were crashing cars with cement-filled doors and luckily, Lucky beer. There were lots of people, and there were the Presidents. I'm especially glad that the Presidents were the only obsession of that day that have stuck with me. Otherwise you might see a more flannel-clothed girl sitting before you.
The Presidents are a band of three, with a guitarist, a bassist, and a drummer. While the band should have 6 strings on each guitar, they only have 3 and 2 respectively. Even with this lack of strings, they have no lack of nonsensical songs and catchy beats. Lots of their songs are about "Peaches," or "Postmen," or "Toob Amplifiers." Everytime I hear them, I'm amazed by them.
Greg had a mixed CD with the song "Peaches" on it by the Presidents of the United States. Immediately I was intrigued. Time went by, and Greg fueled my ambition further by encouraging me to buy all of their cds.

Quarter Term From Hell
Stressed out to the max-i-mum.
I've had a not so good time lately trying to manage my time -and- do the stuff that I want to do.
So, that means that the couple of days (or in the case of yesterday) I started studying for the test the day before the test, and was still reading parts of the text this morning, mere minutes before the 'quarter-term from hell.' Let me tell you, I am not impressed with Psychology 292, nor am I any more impressed by the teacher.
Generally, his tests include a couple of multiple choice questions, some matching, a couple of fill in the blanks and a dash of short essay questions. So no matter what, your forte was in the test. But not today, this fine day we had 60 multiple choice questions in 50 minutes. It was nuts trying to figure them out. And he wasnt nice about it either, they were all questions that 2 or more of the options could have been correct. And whats more, often it was hard to even narrow it down to two. Anyways, by the end I didnt and couldnt care anymore about PSTD or the 'external locus of control' and stood up, walked to the front of the class, and kicked the teacher square in the kisser. Then I had to wrestle off the lady who arranges the tests, and then finally the security gaurds. Lucky for me, Ive been walking up and down the hill lots lately, and the security gaurds are even less active than a three story sloth. (My current obsession).
Point of the story - I hate school and I think this picture is funny!

Yah Canada!
Well, as I checked out CBC this morning, I thought everyone might get a bit of a laugh out of this. Only Canadians...

Yet another example of our nationalism!
Seating Conundrum
My psychology class is in a large theatre. It is much like any cinema that you might encounter. It is shell shaped, and there are two aisles and tiered rows of seating. My class is not really large (probably only 10oish people) but every day I feel a bit guilty. I don't know anyone in this class, so I sit alone about half way up on the left section, on the right side of the section (hopefully you are still following). I sit on the very edge without fail everyday (making it difficult to move past me, and for generally for anyone else to sit in this prime row), so is it university-ally right?? No one wants to disturb the girl who has to be mean (due to no friends) and therefore to sit in the row, have to go to the top and cross over and back down. Should I -gasp- sit in another seat?

The first random roomate picture. (TJ and Schuyler, if you didn't know)

A Second Try at a First Post
Thanks to Blake for the name!
I still would like your guys' opinion on the 'boy with boobs' thing. It would be pretty easy to see it in the 'transexual' sort of way, but I mean it in the tomboy sort of way. Greg mentioned it quite awhile ago, and it has stuck with me since.
