Breaking!!

Woohoo!

Generally, in ones Kyokushin Karate journey, the karate-ka breaks boards every time a rank changes. However, for this particular student I haven't had to break since I went for my blue belt (2 rank changes, and 3 years ago). So, I had breaking all built up in my mind and was freaking out about the day when I finally would have to break. And, when one starts to get higher belts, the breaking obviously becomes more complex and more boards are introduced. For example, for my blue belt breaking I broke a board with a hammer-fist, but for my green-belt grading I would have had to break 2 boards with a straight middle-level punch, and two with a forward-kick with the ball of your foot. And finally, I get freaked out when I am evaluated in front of other people that I care about. So, between kids classes last night, Jarvis, Sempai set up a board on another board, and told me to break it. So, I didnt have any time to freak out about it, and I just -- did it! There was no build up or anything! Anyways, so we got to do some more breaking later on in the adult class, and I did a couple of more breaks, one with the bone on your wrist at the bottom of your hand, and a couple with my heel! I was pretty excited in all, and I even have a bruise on the side of my hand for my effort. It's pretty beautiful, and it constricts my motion a little bit.

After this adventure, I took Blake to the hospital because he had re-hurt his hand, so I got to sit in the hospital and read! I dont mind hospital visits so much!

Multiple Choice Questions

Well, I have finished my first exam. For the first time in my life, I studied exactly the right thing. Becks and I spent a couple of hours yesterday going over the notes that we had taken from the last part of this term, and the stuff that we really discussed in detail, was on the test. The multiple choice questions were pretty hard though. Lots of them were in this format, which are the worse:

Which one of these were not part of the movement towards the furthering of human right movement in the 1940's?
a. The French Declaration of the Rights of Man
b. The United Nations Human Rights Declaration
c. The International Covenent on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights
d. The International Covenent on Civil and Political Rights
e. The Declaration of Independence
f. The Magna Carta
g. b, c, d, and g
h. b c, d
i. Not the Declaration of Independence
f. none of the above except for a, e, f, g, h, j

Immediately, you think that you can take off a, e and f, but then youre not sure which answer says that. So, you're stuck and end up just guessing. It is ridicolous how much he tries to mix you up. He's always putting negatives in the questions, and negatives in the answer, and in the end the answer that you thought you knew, you are guessing about again.

Well, regardless, I am glad that is all done. I am going to go sit outside and read some textbook before I go for a tasty bbq this evening with Jarvis, Natalie and Blake.

It's Schuyler's Brithday!!

It is my handsome roomate's birthday!

Meet Handsome Bachelor Roomate #1 - Schuyler

Schuyler turned 22 today. And I, instead of having a bunch of naked drunk girls dressed up like Princess Leia to distract him after he got home from an exhausting day of work missed my cue. He went for dinner with his sister instead. My bad.

Every Nerd's Dream (or so I'm told)

And then instead of him coming home from that and me having ordered him a pair of strippers that were intersted in fulfilling his fantasies, I made him play the game of Life with me... And I didn't even entertain him by making myself a lesbian (in the game). All in all, I hope that he had a great 22nd birthday, no thanks to me.

The Hooker's I should have Gotten

Actually, since they would have been Prince George hookers, they would have looked more like this...

This is my present to you Schuyler by the way! You can check out that picture of Princess Leia after I go to bed!

PS- Schuyler isn't at all the prostitute getting sort of guy. Just letting you know. But he is a bachelor, and enjoys mountain biking, spending time at the lake with friends, waltzing, and Family Guy. He's got a great sense of humor with strong educated views on pertinent issues of today. He also likes Starwars and WOW. A suitable girl needs to have knowledge of these things. And on top of it all, he's cute!

Go Team Tanshin!

The "Fight" team from Dawson is going to Moncton, New Brunswick this weekend to participate in a tournament.

Shawn, Eileen, Tyler and Cole are going to check out the competition and enter in their first tournament.

I think that this is the website!

Anyways, this tournament is broken up into weight divisions, and colored and black belts, which is not so in the World Tournament in April 2006. So, it's a bit of a change from the other tournaments, but it's awesome that they are getting out there and finding out what it is all about.

I'm so excited for them, and hope that they come back home unbroken and with excellent stories!

Randomness

This doesn't have anything to do with the post, but I just think they are so cute!!

We went out last night for Schuyler's birthday! It was pretty fun, we went to the Publik (I swear its communist) where we started off with drinks. Nothing so exciting happened, so then we came home and had some star wars cake!! Its pretty awesome, its got Darth and Yoda on it, so it was fitting for his birthday. Then we went to the bowling alley, where we had interesting names like "Greg's Woman (Kristina), "Commander Coolhat (Blake)," Sex Kitten (Katie)," "Kitten Pleaser (Ian)," "Schooler (Schuyler)," and "Heroin Handles, (Me!)" So, needless to say it was a little bit riske whenever one of us got a strike or a spare because then our names would flash. Anyways, it was pretty good times, but we decided not to go out to the bar, and instead came home and watched the advertisement for the Magic Bullet. Well, I watched it and the boys complained about it.

The Magic Bullet, the focus of my dreams.

The Magic Bullet is amazing. I so badly want one. I just think that it would be awesome to make meals for one person. Its so small and looks so easy, and tasty!! And, I have to admit I really like the info-mercial.

Then today, I woke up and felt so sick all day. Then I proceeded to become ill, and now I am swearing off all food, and am pretty sure that I wont be able to drink mochas for quite some time.

Anyways, I should get back to writing the stupid annotated bibliography.
Hope everyone else is feelin' fine!
